Program Description

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program is designed to train students in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of physical disabilities and disorders. The program prepares students to become expert physical therapists, equipped with the skills to improve patients' mobility and quality of life.

Duration: 5 year (10 Semesters)

Program Objectives

Comprehensive Understanding & Ethical Values
To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and to instill professionalism, ethical values, and effective communication skills essential for establishing therapeutic relationships with patients and collaborating with healthcare teams.

Evidence-based Physical Therapy
To train students in the implementation of evidence-based physical therapy interventions, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, modalities, and functional training.

Clinical Skills
To develop clinical skills in physical examination, assessment, and diagnosis of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.

Clinical Reasoning Skills
To foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and clinical reasoning skills necessary for effective patient management and rehabilitation.

Course Outline

Core courses Covering fundamental topics in doctor of physiotherapy, including Human

Anatomy, Body Physiology, Movement Science (Biomechanics), Exercise Therapy, Musculoskeletal Treatment, Neuro Physiotherapy and Cardio & Pulmonary Rehab

 

Elective courses allowing students to explore specialized areas of, Expository Writing, Quantitative Reasoning, Introduction to Management, Creative Design Suite, Food, Nutrition & Wellbeing and Sociology.


Hands-on learning experiences Hands-on learning experiences through programming labs, projects, clinical internships, and hospital collaborations to apply theoretical concepts to real-world clinical problems and gain practical experience in hospitals


Capstone project or thesis work Capstone project or thesis work requiring students to undertake a substantial independent research or clinical skill development project under the guidance of faculty mentors.

Hospital or Rehabilitation Center Therapist
Provide physical therapy for patients recovering from surgery, injuries, or chronic conditions in inpatient settings.

Deliver customized rehabilitation services in clinics focused on outpatient care and mobility restoration.

Sports Medicine Specialist
Work with athletes and active individuals to prevent and treat sports-related injuries.

Nursing Home or Long-Term Care Therapist
Support elderly or chronically ill patients in maintaining or improving physical function.

Pediatric Physical Therapist
Treat children with developmental or neuromuscular conditions in schools or pediatric centers.

Home Health Physical Therapist
Offer therapy services in patients’ homes, especially for post-operative or mobility-limited individuals.
